Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Pricing
Headshot and/or portrait shoot, lasting 1 hour: £100. This includes 3 edited, high resolution images. Additional edited images are available at £15 each.
A non-refundable (but transferable) deposit of £35 is required to secure your booking.
Location
I work out of Derby and Nottingham, in a variety of spaces, using my portable studio set up. When you book a time slot with me via Calendly, the time is held, pending studio availability. Once a location has been booked, I will confirm your booking.
Ahead of the shoot
Firstly, thanks for booking! There should be a fun shoot ahead. Try to have a think about what your casting types are, what you want to get out of the shoot, and anything you want to try.
Keeping well hydrated and rested leading up to the shoot is always helpful too! And of course, you’re always welcome to email questions in advance, if you have any: benjgsherwood[at]gmail.com
During the shoot
All shoots start with a 5-10 min chat to get to know each other and settle any nerves. This is an opportunity to explore ideas and hopefully relax before being on camera.
No matter the location of the shoot, I will have my pop-up studio kit with a variety of backdrops to choose from (which can be changed during the shoot as well).
Clothing
Feel free to bring as many clothing options as you like! The more you bring, the more options we have. Generally, you can’t go wrong with block colours that go with your skin tone. Patterns can add some nice pop to your portfolio, but be careful they don’t distract from your face (which is, after all, what the headshots are all about).
In our 1 hour session, we’ll likely get through 2-3 outfits, but you’re welcome to change as many times as you like during that time.
Hair and make-up
The number one thing is that we want to see what you naturally look like, so it’s best to have a fairly neutral look to your make-up. Remember, you can always add a pop of colour during the session, so start light. Powder is a great idea in general to help reduce shine on your skin.
Similarly, it’s best to not overly complicate your hair styling. If you have long hair, it’s useful to start with your hair down and then tie it up in other styles during the session, to achieve different looks.
Bring your kit with you so you have the flexibility to try different things. If you have facial hair, you’re welcome to trim/shave partway through a session.
After the shoot
Once we’ve finished shooting, I’ll start processing and sorting through the raw photos. You’ll receive a link to an online gallery within the next few days, where you can choose your favourites.
Once I’ve received your favourites, I will work on those edits. Finished images will be provided within 1 week.
